# Presentation
Bookings can be presented in one of two ways, normal and booking-first. This is selected for the event type and will then apply to all bookings for events of that event type.
Presentation only affects how the booking is presented to the booked person - it won't change how it looks in the Causebase dashboard.
# Normal presentation
Normal presentation will present bookings as being a booking on an event, and will show the event as something separate to the booking.
This is useful when the event represents something where the person would expect there to be multiple people making bookings for the same event, for example:
- a public event where tickets are bought for an event
- a volunteer day where multiple volunteers will book in
# Booking-first presentation
Booking-first presentation will make the event transparent - it won't be referred to, and it's details will be shown to the booked person as though they are for the booking itself.
This is useful when the event itself isn't important to the person, and they expect their booking to be unique to them, such as:
- an appointment-type arrangement where the event itself isn't important to the person
This means that the time and location of the event will be shown as the time and location of the booking.
# Key differences
Booking-first notifications will refer to the booking only, and will provide the location and timing as though they are part of the booking itself.
Normal notifications will refer to the booking as being part of the event.
For example, if for a booking of type First dressing on an event Client services at Causebase HQ on 1 January at 12pm would be presented as follows:
| Presentation | Example of how booking is referred to |
|---|---|
| Normal | "You have a new booking on the Client services event. The event will take place at Causebase HQ on 1 January at 12pm." |
| Booking-first | "You have a new First dressing booking with Organisation at Causebase HQ on 1 January at 12pm." |
